Man met bril | Small bar, big attitude
The first time I went to Man met Bril coffee bar/roastery. I thought that this was the smallest bar in town. Imagine a small space where they store the beans, had their big roaster and a bar. They had one big table and probably two little ones. You know what they say, size doesn’t matter. Especially when you have won the title for best coffee a few times.
I don’t blame them! They only source the best coffee beans, roast it in-house and serve it with the best local products. You will never see them serving a soy cappuccino, just because the owner doesn’t like soy milk and he only wants to work with products that he really loves. That goes same for every dish that comes out of the kitchen. I know it sounds somewhat pretentious but hey, if that is what it takes to win the prize ;). Since the renovation, the place doubled in size, and that means more space for us to work! You can pick a small table if you are all by yourself. If you have a bigger party, you can easily sit down at one of the larger tables. One little downside, the only spot with power sockets is the big table near the kitchen. But the coffee and the avocado on toast makes up for everything. Or that slice of cake.I love dropping by in the morning, waking up with a cup of joe, fresh croissant, and a newspaper. It doesn’t get super crowded during the week since it is still a hidden gem just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown (aka Rotterdam Centre). If you can’t get enough, grab a bag of those fresh roasted beans or visit one of the many places, like Sajoer, to get your Man met bril fix.
This hidden gem in Rotterdam-Noord is worth a visit. The coffee is outstanding, the avocado on toast is to die for and the chill vibe makes this a perfect space to set up your office.
